Daniel Scocco from Daily Blog Tips has just launched a group writing project called 2009 in Review. Well, 2009 is a year in which there are a lot of wonderful things happened to me, such as I have launched this blog Free Nuts, written guest posts to Twitip as well as Daily Blog Tips, met some great bloggers, and so on.
In 2009, I have spent much time to find interesting web apps and to play with Twitter on my BlackBerry, so in this post, I will introduce 10 web apps which can be used to update your twitter on your BlackBerry. Unlike usual, I will rank those 10 twitter web apps from Top 1 to Top 10, and give reasons for why. Here we go!
Top 1: Twitstat Mobile
Twistat Mobile and Dabr are the top 2 tools I have been using on my BlackBerry, and I rank Twistat Mobile Top 1 because of its below 5 powerful functions:
1. Lists. It lets you read the lists you create, you follow and you are on.
2. Searches. You can save the searches, and get alerts when there are new results.
3. Alerts. When there are new mentions, direct messages or search results, the related tabs will be red.
4. Integrations. You can integrate your Foursquare account to Twitstat Mobile.
5. Links. It can add mobile friendly outbound links to those tweets with links.
The only one thing I do not like is that the “i” tab between the “extra” and the “Search”, it seems in the wrong way.

Top 2: Dabr
Dabr was my favorite before Twitstat Mobile’s last upgrade. It also supports the twitter lists, but only the lists you created can be read. Dabr has something that Twitstat Mobile hasn’t:
1. Trends. Dabr lets you know the current trends on twitter.
2. Search Multiple Languages. Besides English, Dabr lets you search at least Chinese. ![]()
3. Upload Pictures. Dabr lets you upload pictures via TwitPic service.
4. Sign in with Twitter OAuth. This feature is only available in Dabr among these top 10 web apps.
Since Dabr offers the API to developers, there are some clones, among which dabr.nl and mwd are the best 2.

Top 3: Slandr
The most special feature of Slandr is Geo, from which you can see where your twitter friends are from, look up tweets near your location, and check the geo events from Last.fm. Besides, Slandr also has below features:
1. Search. Multiple languages searches are available.
2. Trends. Besides trend keywords, you can also see the popular links from Tweetmeme and Twitturly.
3. Upload Pictures. You can upload pictures via Mobypicture, TwitPic or Yfrog.
There are some promotion tweets (ADs) on Slandr.

Top 4. Tweete
With Tweete, you can follow or unfollow your friends as well as your followers, you can search in different languages, you can upload pictures via TwitPic service, you can decide how many minutes the timeline will be auto-refreshed, and so on.
Go to Tweete from your BlackBerry.
Top 5. Twittme
There are two special features for Twittme:
1. Tweets Divided. You can input 240 characters for a single tweet which will be divided into two, and there will be a Twittme link added to the last one. But there won’t be any link added if the tweet you input is no more than 140 characters.
2. SMS Services. Twittme lets you send 5 free SMS to any mobile phone all over the world, but I just failed to send any SMS to my friends in China.
Twittme also offers search and trends services.

Top 6: New Twitter Mobile
The new Twitter mobile website (mobile.twitter.com) is more beautiful and powerful than the old one. You can retweet, reply, or favorite the tweets, send direct messages, check the trending topics, etc. But the search function was not workable on my BlackBerry.

Top 7. Logpost
The design of Logpost is rather beautiful, and you can search in different languages, follow or unfollow tweeps, see today’s trends, etc. Logpost works well in Firefox browser on computer, but there was nothing changed when clicking the timeline tweets in Opera Mini browser on the BlackBerry.

Top 8. Old Twitter Mobile
Comparing to the new Twitter mobile website, I am begging you won’t like to use the old Twitter mobile website (m.twitter.com) any more, though you can still read the tweets and follow/unfollow the tweeps, or select to receive the updates on your phone.

Top 9. iTweet
Well, iTweet is developed for iPhone, but I’ve just found out that it can be used in Opera Mini browser on BlackBerry, though some features are not available, such as you can reply the tweets, but you can’t retweet or favorite them.

Top 10. Twitter2go
Twitter2go will be the most simple Twitter mobile web app, since it only lets you to update your tweets and see any twitter user’s updates. By the way, your login password will be seen in plain text, but Twitter2go said they did not save your password.

All the above reviews were tested in Opera Mini browser on BlackBerry 8320, and there might be differences if you use different mobile browsers or different style BlackBerry. Please leave your comments below if you have any questions or any other twitter web apps for BlackBerry.

I don't have a Blackberry, but these apps make me almost want to get one. Thanks for the tips - your site looks very interesting, too. I have bookmarked it.
To your time success!
