Among these 10 free online broken link checkers, my favorite is the WordPress plugin Broken Link Checker, but which hasn’t worked in all my blogs for a few days.
I have no idea why it doesn’t work, even though I disable all the other plugins, so that I have to use other tools to do the job. Since the other 9 free online broken link checkers are not available for you to check all the links in a site, I prefer to use the following 2 desktop clients:
1. Xenu
Xenu is a Windows desktop client for you to check broken links of any site you like to.
Xenu will check all the links in the site you enter, then tell you which ones are good, which ones are redirected, which ones are timeout, etc. For the results, you can export them and check later.
2. Integrity
Similar with Xenu, Integrity is a Mac desktop client for you to check broken links.
Enter the URL of a site, click the "Go" button, then Integrity will check all the links inside the site and show you which are good, which are broken, with detailed information, including error types, URLs, link text and on how many pages.
By the way, since the results from both Xenu and Integrity are not 100% correct, you’d better double-check before you delete those "broken" links. And for how to fix broken links, you can check out these 4 ways.
