A favicon (short for favorites icon) is a square icon displayed in the browser’s address bar and the bookmarks. As per Wikipedia, there are three sizes for favicons: 16×16, 32×32 and 64×64, but in fact, the standard and most common size is 16×16.

    I had no idea there were so many great resources to make favicons. When I made my first favicon, I just used MS Paint and drew something up. It kind of sucked, but it was better than nothing.

    I ended up just cropping and resizing my for my favicon, but I had no idea there were so many site to make it easy. Once again, awesome list of free resources.
