Create A Mobile Site For Your Blog With ShareSquare

Since more and more people are surfing the internet with their mobile phones instead of computers, it will be a good idea for you to make your blog mobile friendly.

As a WordPress user, you can install some plugins (such as WPtouch) to display your blog with a new theme for a mobile browser, and if you don't like to install anything on or to change anything of your blog, you can check out ShareSquare, which is a website for you to create a mobile site for your blog on its server instead of yours.

Make Your Blog Mobile Friendly With Sharesquare

On the website, you can just enter your blog URL, and click the "Mobilize it!" button, then ShareSquare will show you a mobile site, which you can customize with the following 3 ways after sign-up:

1. You can change the outlook

You can edit the site name, choose the site color & theme, upload an image for the background, and/or upload up to 5 images to the gallery.

2. You can choose the output

Home, News and Bio are the default tabs (modules) displayed on your mobile site, you can edit or remove them, and you can also add Fans, Share, Comments and/or some other Available Modules.

3. You can decide the features

You can select whether to show the title bar, to add bookmark to iPhone home screen or not.

After customization, you can get a shsq.re URL for your mobile site (such as this), which will look like the following:

ShareSquare

For the mobile site, you can see the latest 10 blog posts, which contents will be automatically scaled according to your mobile phone's screen; you can add modules for people to take actions, such as to share, to comment, to download, etc.; you can track the traffic, the clicks, the shares and some other status with the Analytics tool; and you can also get a QR code, which you can download as a PNG or PDF file.

Although ShareSquare can make a mobile site for your blog, it also has some shortcomings, such as that you can only show 10 posts, you can't display some contents of your blog, such as ads, pages, sidebars, etc., and you can't comment on the posts with the blog's comment system.

By the way, ShareSquare offers both free and paid services, for the free service, there will be 3 limits:

  • Only 500 MB bandwidth per month;
  • Ad-supported;
  • You can't customize the URL for your mobile site.

But since you don't need to change anything of your blog, you don't need to worry about the above limits, too, especially if you just take ShareSquare as a promotion tool.
