In the post 13 great online image editors, it just lists what those online image editors are, but doesn’t mention why people will need to use an online image editor.
Well, Umut from WebResourcesDepot has just given out some reasons for why to use online image editors, such as portability, free, lower system resources, and so on.
Umut also has mentioned some nice free online image editors, all of which are also mentioned in the 13 online image editors, except FlauntR, which “totally focused on editing images & don’t offer creating a new one from scratch”, said by Umut. So, let’s have a look how FlauntR works.
You have to register before to use FlauntR, but don’t worry, it is FREE, and has some great features:
1. Get images from various places
You are able to get images from your computer, Flickr, Facebook, Picasa, Bebo, and any webpage URL with images.
2. Save images online
The images you get can be saved in FlauntR, but I have no idea if we can save unlimited images there.
3. Edit images easily
- Besides to rotate, resize or crop the images, you can add some special effects, such as Mosaic, Curves, Sketch, and so on.
- You are able to add text and some funny shapes to the image.
- There are different styles for your choice, such as frames, magazine covers, light effects, and so on.
4. Create mobile wallpapers
When selecting your mobile style, there will be a frame for you to crop the wallpaper as large as your phone screen. Right now, FlauntR supports Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Blackberry, Motorola, LG and Samsung.
5. Create profile avatar
FlauntR supports 41 networks, including Twitter, Flickr, Blogger, and so on. It is easy to crop the right size profile avatars for different networks.
6. Share images widely
Besides to download the images, you are also able to share them via many ways, such as Email, social medias (such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, etc), or to embed them in your websites.
7. Support 5 languages
Besides English, FlauntR also supports French, German, Spanish and Netherlands.
8. Print images easily
The print service is NOT free, but you can print your images as Greeting cards, Posters, Canvas, and so on.
The PROBLEMs I came across were that it was unable to import the images from a webpage URL, and the service was not light enough, it wasted quite a few system resources.
