@KarlAnderson Checked bookmycloud out and after giving my info all I get is an error when I try to access. Also in their TOS they flat out say that they reserve the right to discontinue service without notice "from time to time" at which point they will delete all your files, therefore you will lose EVERYTHING. Seems kinda sketchy to me. NO THANKS!!!!!

Sugarsync #1!! Dropbox does a great job, but with Sugarsync, the sky's the limit on the amount of free storage you can get! I started out with 5gb, and from talking with friends, family members, co-workers, and clients, I've managed to obtain almost 50gb for free.

The blog that got my attention with Sugarsync was a guy who had apparently earned over 250gb of free storage from referrals.

Crazy! I won't give you a link to my referral because that's just ridiculous.

Want lots of free storage and more options than anyone else? Sugarsync.

Hey guys I've found this site where they offer free 10GB of cloud storage. It's compatible with Windows, Mac, Ubuntu, Android devices, iPhones and they will add WP7 compatibility soon!

Plus with every referral you both get an extra 1GB of storage up to 50GB. You can't beat that!
If anyone would like to use my link here it is:

You seem to be confusing the word I with the word YOU. What YOU meant to say was use this link and I will get. We don't get anything extra for using YOUR link. Nice try though....

@drwilson66 actually new users who use a rec link like the above DO get an extra half gig. Usin a rec link starts you with 5.5 instead of 5 which is the standard starting level. :) (Perhaps you should research this before leaving a rude comment in the future...) Thanks for giving me the opertunity to clarify though.

Skydrive is virtually useless unless you give Bill all your money to run his programs. Nothing in Skydrive works correctly, I finally got all my files off my Skydrive, and came here looking for a "cloud" that might work for me, as I avoid using MS products.

I didn't realize there were that many choices out there. But between iDisk and Dropbox I'm more than covered. Why isn't Dropbox allowed in China? BTW, retweeted.

Young
Young

@Chris Adams Thanks for the RT. I have no idea why the hell Chinese government blocks Dropbox, but besides which, Faebook, Twitter, YouTube and many other famous websites are also blocked here, the government blocks all the sites she hates, with her censorship tool -- GFW ( the great firewall).

@doug_eike Thanks for sharing this post on Facebook! Yes, Amazon's cloud drive does offer 2 GB free cloud storage, but you can only upload files to it automatically.

@Natalie Sisson Yes, Dropbox is best of the best, but unfortunately it is blocked in China. :-(

@Travis Yes, SkyDrive does offer 25 GB of free storage in a total, but you can only sync and back up up to 5 GB with its Windows Live Mesh desktop client. :-)

Great list you've put together here. SkyDrive actually offers 25GB of free storage. Your write up says 5GB. Is that an error or are you referring to something else?

Dropbox is my favourite cloud storage system for it's complete ease of use and easy file syncing from my computer. It's one of my featured tools for that very reason in my Ultimate Toolkit for Evolutionary Entrepreneurs.

Great summary

I am in the process of looking for cloud storage for my two blogs and personal photos. I shared your article on facebook and appreciate knowing about all of the services you're covered. I am curious, though, as to where Amazon's cloud storage ranks among these choices.
Thanks.

Think about what your doing here, and think of the current economy!

You want to BACKUP your treasured memories such as photos and videos, to a service where they will remain safe and secure in the event your HDD crashes! ADrive you have to wait for ages before downloading a file off your account. Minus, well let's be frank, I'd never heard of them until today!

To cut a long story short, you want a company who isn't going to go bust over night (Look what happened to XDrive which was an AOL company) and you don't want a company that is likely to get taken down by the feds (MegaUpload which was taken down today).

The companies that offer loads of free storage are likely to go bankrupt at some point, because, lets be honest. If I had a free ADrive account and I filled it up, I would create another free one. In fact, I have 8 accounts all linked to different E-Mail addresses which means I am using 400GB of space on their servers, and they probably aren't getting enough revenue from Ad's alone to store all my files.

The ones that offer a lot of free storage should be avoided like the plague, unless they are from a company you can trust! You have to think 'Is this a company that is likely to go Bankrupt over night?'

I have a free 5GB Digital Vault account I had when I had BT Broadband, and I also have a unlimited account I have with my Virgin Media 50Mb service. Neither of these companies are going to go Bankrupt over night or any time soon for that matter so therefore I trust them to host my data!

I also have a Skydrive account which is nearly at it's limit. When that happens, Microsoft will check to see if I'm storing legit content (making sure I'm not using the service to host copyrighted content such as films for other users to download) and if I use my storage for personal reasons, they will give me another 25GB free! Once I use up that, they will check it again and give me another 25GB free, because MS know I could just create a free account, but they would rather have everything stored under one!

It's very unlikely that a huge company like Microsoft is going to go bust over night so I'm quite happy hosting my files with them!
